Students’ Representation (VU SR)

VU studentų atstovybės narė

The VU Students’ Representation (VU SR) is the oldest and largest student organisation in Lithuania. It is a non-profit, non-political, expert educational organisation representing students’ interests within and beyond Vilnius University. The VU SR fosters University culture and promotes student self-expression.

The VU SR has 15 branches – one in each core academic unit (faculty, institute, academy, or centre) – and the Central Office, which is located in the Observatory Courtyard.

To get a better idea of what the Students’ Representation does, explore last year’s activity report.

Learn more about each group here. Participation is free of charge, but make sure you don’t miss the auditions held at the beginning of each academic year.

Sports Activities

VU Sveikatos ir sporto centro sporto salė

The Vilnius University Health and Sport Centre invites students to make the most of their free time through sports. With a gym membership, you can use the gym, join group sessions, or become part of a VU team (in disciplines such as orienteering, chess, rowing, swimming, weightlifting, football, and other sports), and compete as a representative of the University. Find all available sports clubs and teams here.

At Šiauliai Academy, students are encouraged to reach higher levels of athletic achievement and enjoy active leisure time on game courts, in aerobics halls, and in gym facilities. Learn more about sports teams and other opportunities here.

Clubs, Societies, and Associations

VU studentų klubai

Over time, many different societies, clubs, associations, and individual projects have developed within the large VU community. These are great opportunities to enjoy your free time, deepen your expertise, or learn new skills. Feel free to join student research societies in a variety of fields or take part in any of the other activities on offer.

Volunteering

Non-academic units at Vilnius University invite students to contribute their time and talents through volunteering, which is a great way to build valuable skills. Volunteering opportunities are available in various units – from the VU Museum to the Botanical Garden.

At Šiauliai Academy, students can volunteer not only within the University units – such as the STEAM Centre or the Botanical Garden – but also at partner institutions and organisations, including the Regional Development Institute at Šiauliai Academy.

Freshers’ Camps

Every August, the VU Students’ Representation (VU SR) organises off-site camps for first-year students from all University units (faculties). Altogether, 15 camps are held annually, where participants meet their peers and programme mentors. Freshers’ camps also provide an opportunity to get to know the University and its culture, meet lecturers, alumni, and staff, and learn the basics of the study process and the University environment.

Faculty Days

Spring at Vilnius University wouldn’t be the same without Faculty Days – an annual celebration when each academic unit (faculty) hosts its own events. In some units, it’s a one-day celebration, while in others, the Faculty Days can last over a week. If you’d like to do more than just attend, follow your faculty’s social media channels for the latest updates and take part in organising the event.
