The Biobank of Lithuanian Population and Rare Disorders Campaign

Start your student journey this academic year by becoming a true hero of Lithuanian medical research! Donate a blood sample to the The Biobank of Lithuanian Population and Rare Disorders.

This population biobank, established within the Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University, collects and stores a unique collection of biological samples from the Lithuanian population. By studying these samples, researchers are advancing the medicine of the future. Every donated sample is valuable and contributes to improving public health and saving thousands of lives in the years to come.

A population biobank is like a library of the nation’s health data, helping researchers better understand how diseases develop, what causes them, and how they can be prevented, diagnosed, and treated. 

Joining this initiative is simple: all you need to do is provide your consent for your pseudonymized health information to be used for scientific research and donate a small 50 mL blood sample. The donation is intended for those who see their future in Lithuania. To receive it, a valid resident status and personal identification number are required.

The blood sample collection campaign will take place on three occasions. You are welcome to attend at the time most convenient for you:

28 August, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM – VU Faculty of Medicine, Room 129, 21 M. K. Čiurlionio Street.
31 August, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM – VU Faculty of Medicine, Room 129, 21 M. K. Čiurlionio Street.
2 September, 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM – VU Medical Science Centre, 2 Žaliųjų Ežerų Street.
