Generative AI in Your Studies: Faculty of Philology Guidelines

Through practical examples, questions, and short activities, we will discuss when GenAI may be used and when it should not be used; how to protect personal and confidential data; how to critically evaluate AI-generated information; when GenAI use must be declared; and how to avoid breaches of academic integrity.

Generative AI (GenAI) is neither inherently useful nor harmful – its impact depends entirely on how it is used, controlled, and guided, and by whom. In university studies, GenAI can be a valuable tool for learning, but only when it supports rather than replaces students’ own thinking. In this interactive session, first-year students of the Faculty of Philology will explore the guidelines for responsible and ethical use of GenAI in their studies.

Through practical examples, questions, and short activities, we will discuss when GenAI may be used and when it should not be used; how to protect personal and confidential data; how to critically evaluate AI-generated information; when GenAI use must be declared; and how to avoid breaches of academic integrity. You will also learn practical principles for using GenAI as a study assistant while remaining the author of your own work.
