Coming to a foreign country can be both exciting and challenging. That’s why Vilnius University invites all international students to our Introduction Days! During this event, you can expect to meet Faculty Coordinators, take guided tours through the spaces of VU, and participate in many other interesting activities that will help you get to know both Lithuanian and international students.
Brief Program of the Introduction Days
Starting on 29 August and throughout the first week of September, a variety of events and meetings will guide you through the University:
29 August
You are invited to join a welcome event for all international students at Compensa Concert Hall, Kernavės g. 84, Vilnius. For more details, see here.
30 August
Students can participate in a class about VU eServices at 10:00. During the training, you will learn how to connect to all relevant information systems at VU and ask questions. This event is online; please log on here for the remote lecture.
Postgraduate students at 12:00 are welcome to attend the remote lecture ‘Student Services: Turning Confusion into Clarity’.
2 September
The new academic year will commence on 2 September at 9:30 with the traditional flag-raising ceremony in the VU Library Courtyard (Universiteto g. 3). At 14:45, after getting acquainted with the faculties’ spaces everyone is invited to take part in the 30th-anniversary procession of the VU community along Gediminas Avenue, from the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament Building) to the Grand Courtyard at VU. There, we will celebrate the beginning of the academic year with the RENOVATIO STUDIORUM ceremony!
3–5 September
First-year students will have the opportunity to participate in events to get to know their coursemates, curators, faculty administration, and other members of the community.
6 September
The week will conclude with the ‘Ad Astra’ event organised by the VU Students’ Representation! Here, you will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive lecture by the VU Rector, Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, and participate in stimulating discussions, interesting workshops, and the networking fair. The Introduction Days will be closed with a concert – everyone is invited to party and celebrate! Follow event news on Facebook.
